Spring internship to work with Rural development and Green transition in the Nordic Region
Nordregio is currently seeking an intern with an interest in rural development and the just green transition in Nordic municipalities and regions. The successful candidate with work primarily with a project called “A Just Green Transition in rural areas: local benefits from value creation”. The project is part of the Thematic Group for Green and Inclusive Rural Development in the Nordics (2021-2024) and addresses the green transition effects, opportunities and challenges in rural communities and rural populations in the Nordics.
There is also an opportunity to engage in another project (SeMPER Arctic), which gathers local stories of changes, shocks, upheavals and their aftermaths in the face of climate change in an Arctic context. Examples of tasks that may be undertaken during the internship include assisting in conducting policy and literature analyses, collection of data, case study work and communicating with and engaging project stakeholders.
You should be:
- Interested in working with research and rural and green transition topics.
- Interested in social research methods and engaging with stakeholders
- Able to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Currently studying in a relevant discipline (e.g. human or physical geography, sustainable development, political science or similar).
- Fluent in English and at least one Nordic language.
What do we offer?
The internship will be approximately 3 months fulltime and should be undertaken sometime between January and June (longer periods can also be negotiated according to the requirements of the university). It is a requirement that all Nordregio interns are affiliated with a university/university programme during the time of the internship (i.e., the internship should be part of your studies). Please note that internships at Nordregio are unpaid.
Interns should be prepared to be based physically at the Nordregio office in Stockholm with the option to work remotely from time-to-time subject to agreement with their mentor. However, in response to changing conditions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, distance work may apply.
