Study on Smart Specialisation in European Arctic regions

Nordregio has been commissioned a new study on smart specialisation in the Arctic regions. Nordregio has been assigned to the task by the European Commission Joint Research Centre and the JRC S3 Platform Team in Seville, Spain.

The aim of the project is to develop a report on the application of smart specialisation in European Arctic regions, and Nordregio analyses how smart specialisation has been helpful in addressing challenges in the European Arctic.

The study provides an overview of smart specialisation in an Arctic context, including presentation of at least five smart specialisation good practice cases in the European Arctic. The report provides recommendations on how to facilitate interregional and transnational smart specialisation cooperation to address common challenges in the European Arctic regions. Moreover, the report further explores challenges, recommendations and lessons learned at the Arctic Cooperation meeting on Smart Specialisation on April 13, 2018 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The final report will be published by the end of 2018.
