Nordregio is an international research institute established by the Nordic Council of Ministers

Welcome to Nordic Economic Policy Review Conference 2026.

Across the Nordic countries, birth rates have fallen to historically low levels, well below replacement rates. This development poses important questions about the future of our societies, as changing patterns of family formation differ across socioeconomic groups and may shape socioeconomic inequality both today and in the future.

This conference will take place at Nordatlantens Brygge, Copenhagen on the 21 October 2026 where leading economists and demographers will share recent findings and discuss the impact of fertility decline on the Nordic economies.

We invite you to a full day with presentations of recent research by leading Nordic experts and comments by academics and policymakers. We offer coffee and lunch for all in participants who are able to attend in-person as part of the free conference ticket.

For those not able to attend in-person, we will also live stream the event from Copenhagen. Please register in advance to gain access to a link to watch the conference online.
