During the online launch, Nordregio researchers shares key insights and highlights from the report. The event attracted high interest across the Nordic Region and beyond. Participants asked questions, shared their perspectives, and contributed to discussing implications for policymakers, planners, and regional development professionals.

State of the Nordic Region combines statistics, maps, and analysis. It sheds light on shared challenges, opportunities, similarities and differences across the Nordic countries, regions, municipalities, and cities.

The 2026 edition takes stock of how demographic change, population ageing, migration, labour market dynamics, and structural economic changes are reshaping the Nordic Region. It also examines how regions build resilience and respond to external pressures such as geopolitical uncertainty, growing demands on critical infrastructure, and multiple overlapping transitions.
