From intern to senior: describe your career path at Nordregio!

I started as an intern and later became a research assistant during my university studies. After graduating, I continued as a Junior Research Fellow. From there, I advanced to Research Fellow and eventually Senior Research Advisor. Since starting, I have acquired a second master’s degree and additional courses. Nordregio has encouraged me throughout, recognising that it’s beneficial both for my personal development and the organisation

What has made you want to stay at Nordregio?

What I appreciate most are the colleagues. We have a friendly work environment where people collaborate on fascinating projects. Whether it’s a small-scale initiative in a specific region or a large-scale international project, the teamwork and camaraderie make every day enjoyable.

What is a typical day like for you?

There’s no typical day at Nordregio. One week might start with a project proposal meeting, continue with stakeholder discussions, a presentation abroad, and end with a data workshop. The next might be spent at your desk, focused on one project, with time for after-work fun. Every week brings new challenges and opportunities.

We provide Nordic policymakers and practitioners with new knowledge and tools to support formulation and implementation of sustainable regional development policies.

Nordregio is recognised as a leading regional development, policy and planning research institute. We conduct applied research, statistical and geospatial analysis.

We pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where diverse expertise come together to address the Nordic Region’s most pressing challenges.
