Nicklas is a human geographer with research interests in disaster and risk management, preparedness, and resilience, often approached from citizen, regional and organisational perspectives. My research covers a range of topics, including spatial aspects of social risks, fires, crime, flooding, storms, critical infrastructure, and (un)safety. From a methodological perspective, my work draws on a mix of GIS‑based, statistical, and qualitative methods and is often conducted in collaboration with a broad range of public, private, and civil‑society actors.
