On 31 January, Jukka Teräs, Senior Research Fellow at Nordregio will participate in an upcoming conference on smart specialization organized by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. He will contribute with reflections on smart specialization and innovation in sparsely populated areas.
This third national conference on smart specialization focuses on the collaboration to attract resources to specific locations. International speakers will discuss how they are working with attractiveness and how Northern Sweden is dealing with the issue. They will also share their experiences on how their countries understand smart specialization and how they involve the business community.
Jukka Teräs, Senior Research Fellow at Nordregio, will make a presentation on the differences between sparsely populated and urban areas when it comes to smart specialization and innovation. He will also reflect on OECD study of the Northern Sparsely Populated Areas (NSPA) – see the Nordregio study for the EU JRC on this theme. The conference will be held in Swedish and English.
