The average annual change in overnight stays form 2009 to 2015

This map illustrates the average annual change in overnight stays during the period 2009-2015. Most Icelandic and Swedish regions experienced an annual increase of over 2%. The only region in Sweden that has seen a decline in visitor numbers is Darlana – some 1.2%. In Finland, Uusimaa, Etelä-Karjala, Etelä-Savo, Pohjois-Karjala, and Etelä-Pohjanmaa all witnessed annual increases of over 2 % in overnight stays during the period. The most significant downward trend was seen in Keski-Pohjanmaa with -1.9 %. Åland experienced a slight average annual decrease in overnight stays of -0.43%. Three regions in Norway – Hedmark, Oppland, and Vest-Agder, have seen an average annual decline in overnight stays of over 1% during the 2009-2015 period, with the most substantial being in Hedmark with a change of -3,1%. In Denmark, the capital region has seen substantial average annual growth (7,9%) in overnight stays during 2009-2015. The regions of Syddanmark and Midtjylland have experienced an upward trend with increases just above 1%. A slight upward trend just below 1% has also been observed in Nordjylland and Sjælland.
