Across Nordic and Baltic regions
4 November, 2016
This map shows demographic vulnerability in Nordic-Baltic regions based on the indicator crude birth rate. Under this indicator, regions are deemed to be vulnerable when the crude birth rate is lower than 11.1 percent. Among the Nordic countries, the majority of regions in Denmark and eastern Finland have a crude birth rate below this threshold. Higher crude birth rates are found mainly in the capital areas, middle-western Finland, southern Sweden, South-West Norway.
Crude birth rate is one of 10 indicators used to measure demographic vulnerability in the Nordic-Baltic Region. The map “Nordic-Baltic Demographic Vulnerabilities”, takes in all 10 indicators to provide an overall picture of demographic vulnerabilities at the regional level.
