This map shows demographic vulnerability in Nordic-Baltic regions based on the indicator crude death rate. Under this indicator, regions are deemed to be vulnerable when the crude death rate is higher than 11.12%. The majority of regions in Nordic countries have a crude birth rate lower than this threshold, with the exception of Northern Sweden and Eastern Finland. In the Baltic countries, most regions have crude death rates above this threshold.
Crude death rate is one of 10 indicators used to measure demographic vulnerability in the Nordic-Baltic Region. The map “Nordic-Baltic Demographic Vulnerabilities”, takes in all 10 indicators to provide an overall picture of demographic vulnerabilities at the regional level.
