How can Nordic cooperation strengthen resilience, democracy and long-term societal development in a period of rapid change?
Nordregio will be part of the Nordic Day at SuomiAreena on 24 June 2026 in Pori, Finland, contributing to discussions on Nordic cooperation at a time when its relevance is increasingly visible across policy, security, competitiveness, culture and education. The all-day programme hosted by the Nordic Council of Ministers and Svenska Kulturfonden brings together speakers and audiences from across the Nordic countries to reflect on how trust-based governance, strong education traditions and commitments to equality can support more sustainable futures.

Throughout the day, discussions on stage will examine how Nordic cooperation can contribute to addressing key cross-sectoral challenges, from security and competitiveness to cultural exchange and skills development. The programme is designed as a multilingual and cross-sectoral exchange on the future of Nordic cooperation.
Nordregio’s Senior Research Fellow Hilma Salonen will participate in the programme, presenting insights and findings from the Recognising and supporting psychological resilience: Regional approaches across the Nordic countries project in a session focused on psychological resilience and Nordic preparedness. The discussion will focus on the role of trust and societal structures in strengthening resilience in times of crisis, and on ways to maintain security of supply and preparedness in a changing world.
