Nordic countries have long sought to create socially mixed neighbourhoods through diverse housing options at various price and rent levels, aiming to reach wider populations and reduce inequalities. However, these efforts must now adapt to increasingly strained housing markets, where the supply of affordable and adequate housing struggles to meet demand.
Nordregio offers insights into housing market and policy dynamics, supporting the development of active, comprehensive housing policies. Our research examines strategic housing initiatives, area-based approaches to reduce segregation, and the role of civil society in fostering social inclusion, among other things. By combining evidence-based insights with collaborative solutions, we aim to support Nordic policy development that promotes equitable access and sustainable communities, contributing to the long-term resilience of the Nordic Region.
