Total number of females per 100 males
16 February, 2016
The map highlights differences within the Nordic Region. A deficit of women can generally be noticed in rural areas, a situation that is nonetheless more common in the rural and peripheral parts of Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Sweden than it is in Denmark and Norway. On average, there are now only 96 women for every 100 men in the rural areas, and a ratio slightly less than 1:1 in areas closer to urban areas. Only in the cities are there more women than men.
