Administrative boundaries as of 1 January 2015
16 June, 2015
This map shows the “NUTS 1” level regions in the Nordic countries, according to the pan-European classification system Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS).
Among the Nordic countries, only Sweden and Finland have NUTS 1 administrative regions which are not equal to the national level (NUTS 0). In Sweden there are three NUTS 1 regions, in Finland two.
However, concerning statistical data for some countries there still might be a difference between the NUTS 0 and NUTS 1 levels, related to outer territories or offshore activities. E.g. in the case of Norway, statistical data related to continental shelf activities (gas and oil explorations in the sea) is usually included in the NUTS 0 level data, but excluded from the NUTS 1 level data (i.e. NUTS 1 only refers to regions on land).
