Old Age Dependency ratio in 2015

Population aged 65 years or more as a share of population aged 15-64 years

Map Facts

Old age-dependency ratio is a measure of the age structure of the population. They relate the number of “dependent” individuals –the elderly in this case – to the number of those individuals who are capable of providing such support. In general, the highest old age dependency rates can be found in some municipalities in Northern Finland and in Swedish Torne Valley. The lowest rates can be found in regional centres and West Norden.
