Across Nordic and Baltic municipalities
4 November, 2016
This map shows demographic vulnerability in Nordic-Baltic municipalities based on the indicator by age-group 55-64 years. Under this indicator, municipalities are deemed to be vulnerable when the percentage of the population aged 55-65 years is more than 12.34 percent. In the majority of municipalities in both Nordic and Baltic countries the share of population in this age group is above the threshold. Particularly high numbers are evident in Finland. Municipalities where the share of the population in this age group is smallest are mainly capital areas and some growing city-regions.
Age group 55-64 years is one of 10 indicators used to measure demographic vulnerability in the Nordic-Baltic Region. The map “Nordic-Baltic Demographic Vulnerabilities”, takes in all 10 indicators to provide an overall picture of demographic vulnerabilities at the municipal level.
