Nordregio has signed a memorandum of understanding with the department of human geography at Lund University, Sweden. This enables the institutions to jointly promote research, exchange staff, develop training and pursue funding opportunities.
– Lund University’s academic expertise and Nordregio’s strength in applied research along with our Nordic policy networks will make a good match! It will help support knowledge-based regional development and spatial planning across the Nordic region. I’m very happy to enter this cooperation, says Rolf Elmér, director of Nordregio.
The memorandum of understanding is between Nordregio and Lund University, through the Department of Human Geography and Economic Geography, including the Swedish Competence Centre for Satellite Enabled Social Science Analytics (SESAC).
Nordregio and the department of human geography at Lund University share a common interest in strengthening the use of spatial and satellite-based information. The memorandum of understanding establishes a non-binding framework for cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The areas of cooperation include:
- Staff mobility and visiting research arrangements
- Capacity building in satellite data and earth observation
- Joint research and innovation
- Joint funding applications
- Collaborative doctoral research
- Seminars and knowledge exchange
The memorandum of understanding spans five years and can be renewed.
