Legislation and policies of urban green areas in the Nordic countries

The aim with the project is to gain an overview of which instruments – i.e. legislation and examples of national policies, that are associated with and regulates urban greenery, green spaces and green values in urban areas in each of the five Nordic countries.

The project aims to briefly describe what the identified instruments specifically regulate or their guidance. The project will also provide examples in concrete projects, plans or programmes when it comes to developing, preserving and protecting green urban areas. The project limits itself to the five Nordic country’s planning legislation and related environmental legislation (e.g. the Environmental Code in Sweden) or other relevant legislation. Two European countries’ legislations and policies will also be mapped.
