Södertörnsmodellen is a collaborative project between academia, public and private stakeholders to promote sustainable urban development. The project has developed a model of cooperation opportunities between municipalities (public sector), businesses and academia for attractive, co-productive and knowledge-driven urban development.
Södertörnsmodellen intends to develop a model or series of systems to resolve urban development and societal challenges regarding resilient and attractive cities through innovative forms of citizen participation and stakeholder collaboration in the Södertörn municipalities, which are part of the larger Stockholm metropolitan region.
Södertörnsmodellen is an integrated concept for the development of ideas, methods and indicators to address the complex needs that characterize the urban environment. The project is also based on the needs of all engaged actors. Södertörnsmodellen consists of three stages. During the first two stages (mainly in the second stage), a model of cooperation between municipalities (public sector), businesses and academia was developed for attractive, co-productive and knowledge-driven urban development. In the third stage, Södertörnsmodellen and its various tools, methods and processes are being tested. For more information about the project, see the video, the different stages, or Södermodellen’s own website.
