Young Nordics
The key to a prosperous and green region

Nordregio Forum 2023
October 17
ONLINE & Reykjavík, Iceland

“The future belongs to youth” – Nelson Mandela‘s famous words from 25 years ago were ground-breaking, while almost three decades later, the future development of countries and regions is inseparable from young people’s involvement in policy-making and planning. To ensure that the Nordic region will become the most socially sustainable and green region globally, it is important to understand young people’s career choices, mobility patterns, and views on sustainability. Nordic people in their 20s and 30s are soon starting or about to finish their education, choosing a career path, and a place to settle. They are also exposed to various sustainability challenges and green transition opportunities that affect the places they are coming from or planning to move to. All their choices and perceptions will impact the future Nordic regional development. How to integrate these perspectives into policymaking and planning?

This year, Nordregio Forum 2023 will focus on the future of the Nordic region through young people’s perspectives.

Nordregio Forum is the annual meeting place for professionals and policymakers working with regional, rural, and urban development in Nordic countries. It is a forum for exchanging ideas, and trends and sharing new knowledge, examples, and experiences. Also, it is an opportunity for pushing national and regional policy agendas while learning from each other.
